Rope Rescue Technician - Building a Double-Track Highline

    NFPA 1006: Rope Rescue Technician

    Professional rescuers will lead this two-day course. Participants will use previously learned skills in a variety of rescue situations while learning advanced rigging and rescue techniques. This course gives participants intensive "hands-on" training in previously learned skills and new techniques covering: knot passing, advanced mechanical advantage systems, and highline rescues. 

    Note: Students must be in good physical condition. 

    • Our rope rescue programs are delivered at our indoor training facility  
    • Time Start 8:30 am Conclude 5:00 pm  
    • Tuition $455 plus HST

    NFPA 1006: Rope Rescue Awareness

    This one-day practical based course is designed to provide you with the initial skills needed to respond to emergency scene technical rescues. You will acquire confidence and develop skills in working with technical rope rescue procedures. 

    • Our rope rescue programs are delivered at our indoor training facility 
    • Time Start 8:30 am Conclude 4:30 pm  
    • Tuition $235 plus HST *

    Our Awareness-level program meets the NFPA 1006 Tower Rescue Awareness Standard.

    This online program will introduce you to types of towers, their common hazards, considerations for pre-planning and rescue.

    Our Operations-level training program meets the NFPA 1006 Tower Rescue Operations Standard.

    You will be working on a tower truss system located at our indoor training centre.

     Our Technician-level training program meets the NFPA 1006 Tower Rescue Technician Standard. Our Technician course is currently delivered to fire services only.

    You will be working on the interior and the exterior of a water tower to perform rescues.

    I have had the pleasure of completing many courses with Access Rescue. Each course was fantastic. The Tower Rescue Operations was probably the most challenging since it allowed me to put all my skills together to problem-solve and confidently complete each rescue.

    At the conclusion of this session, you will be able to:

    • Identify, inspect and correctly utilize Personal Protective Equipment
    • Correctly tie the following knots and hitches -Fig-8 Stopper, Fig-8 Follow through, Fig-8 on a bight, Alpine Butterfly, Prussik Hitch
    • Demonstrate a Personal Safety Check and System Safety Check
    • Perform a rappel
    • Perform a top-belay
    • Perform an ascension and self-rescue.

    • Correctly tie the following knots and hitches -Fig-8 Stopper, Fig-8 Follow through, Fig-8 on a bight, Alpine Butterfly, Prussik Hitch
    • Construct a Load-Sharing Adjustable Anchor System

     At the conclusion of this session, you will be able to:

    • Identify, inspect and correctly utilize Personal Protective Equipment
    • Correctly tie the following knots and hitches -Fig-8 Stopper, Fig-8 Follow through, Fig-8 on a bight, Alpine Butterfly, Prussik Hitch
    • Construct a Load-Sharing Adjustable Anchor System
    • Demonstrate a System Safety Check
    • Construct and utilize a Lowering System
    • Construct a Simple Mechanical Advantage System and utilize a M/A in a haul 
    • Perform a patient pick-off rescue.

     At the conclusion of this session, you will be able to:

    • Construct and utilize a Compound Mechanical Advantage System
    • Assemble and utilize a High Re-direct Portable Anchor (Arizona Vortex)
    • Package a patient in a Basket Litter and perform a rescue in a vertical plain
    • Construct and operate a Double-track High-Line System.
